DJ Friction from Stuttgart, Germany started DJing and collecting Records in 1985. After competing in various DJ battles (such as the German DMC Championships 1991) he had his first DJ residency in 1991. In the same year he started producing for local rappers and singers such as Max Herre, Massive Töne, Afrob and others.
Throughout the 90’s he was mostly known as a Hip Hop DJ and as a founding member, DJ and co-producer of chart topping Hip Hop band Freundeskreis. With Freundeskreis he released numerous gold selling studio albums and singles on Four Music/Sony. („Quadratur des Kreises“ in 1997, “Esperanto” in 1999, the live album “FK Allstars-En Directo” in 2000 and a best of album “FK 10” in 2007).
In 1995 he released his first solo single under his DJ name DJ Friction. From 2000 on he released several solo albums (“Science Friction” in 2000, “Friction” in 2002 and “Soulsonic” in 2004), a funky Nu-Disco / House album together with DJ Thomilla under the name „Bodymovin“ in 2009, a few singles as „Motor Mouth“, a Nu-Disco project with Philipe König and his latest album „DJ Friction presents Ground Control – Boogie Some More“, a 80s retro Boogie Funk album, was released
in 2017 on Sedsoul Records. A 7“ Vinyl Single from the album was released trough Chicago’s Modern Funk label Star Creature Records. He also made countless remixes (for the likes of The Jackson 5, Das EFX & Redman, The Pharcyde, Die Fantastischen Vier, The Jones Girls, Cool Million, just to name a few).
Nowadays he’s more into Nu-Disco, Boogie & Discofunk but still has a love for good Hip Hop. As a kid growing up in the 70s and 80s his influences range from Disco, Electrofunk, Boogie, Soul, Italo-Disco to Hip Hop and House. DJ Friction is a versatile, eclectic DJ that get’s booked for Hip Hop, House, Disco/ Funk or Wildstyle Sets regularly. He played in almost every club in Germany and has played in France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Czechia, USA, Costa Rica, Saudi Arabia and even on the Maldives.
Since 2003 he also made himself a name in the worldwide Disco-Edit scene with his respectful edits and remixes of disco and funk classics and rarities that he puts out on his Replay Records label.
