DJ Thomilla feat. Afrob - Get Up
“We are professionals like Roger Moore & Tony Curtis” is how Michi Beck aka DJ Hausmarke once rhymed on his 1998 album “Weltweit” about the collaboration with his longtime companion and studio partner. For a good 20 years Thomilla has been following his vocation as DJ and producer to present the music he loves and embodies. Like so many others he comes from the original soup of Stuttgart Hip Hop in such a way that in 1994 he handed the first generation DJ’s and also many rappers like Max Herre, the Massiven Tönen, Die Fantastischen Vier or Afrob the right records over the counter in a Stuttgart record store. Legendary club evenings in clubs like the Red Dog and the start of a career as a producer marked the next steps on the way to their own studio and their own production company Benztown Productions, which established Thomilla as an official music producer in Germany in the second half of the nineties. The long and intensive friendship with Michi Beck from the Fantastischen Vier manifested itself at the beginning of the 2000s in the joint project “Turntablerocker”. On a total of three albums and with a multitude of singles, the “Turntablerocker” with their modern sound, which has its roots in the house and electro area, were able to have a lasting influence on the German club scene. Especially as a DJ this broadening of horizon was an important next step, which makes Thomilla what he is today: An extremely versatile, sovereign entertainer who knows how to inspire his audience both behind the decks and as producer of his solo albums and many titles of the Fantastischen Vier. In this function he accompanied Smudo and Michi since 2014 as sidecoach for “The Voice of Germany” and distinguished himself as producer of several albums and winning singles (among others Jamie-Lee). After finishing his work on “Captain Fantastic”, the last studio album of the Fantastischen Vier including the hit single “Zusammen feat. Clueso”, it was the following festival and club tour that brought him back behind the beloved “Wheels of Steel” for the whole year 2018 and large parts of 2019. As a support DJ on the “Captain Fantastic on Tour” of the same name, he played a modern design of Hip Hop in front of hundreds of thousands of enthusiastic spectators, which both paid respect to the old school and knew how to rock the party with current tracks. Also in summer 2019 the sympathetic Berliner of choice will welcome us from many a festival stage and inspire the masses with Beats & Raps.
